The cheapest hand-rolled Nicaraguan long-filler cigar that is genuinely a cigar. Made by J.C. Newman, sold in bundles of twenty for the price of three boutique sticks.
Quorum's whole argument is the price. J.C. Newman makes it in Nicaragua from long-filler tobacco with a Sumatra wrapper, and it sells for around $2 to $3 a stick in bundles — the kind of money that usually buys a machine-made. It is mild-to-medium, cedary and earthy with a creamy nuttiness, and it is unremarkable in every respect except that it is well constructed and it tastes like tobacco rather than a flavoring. The Maduro version is a bit sweeter and, we think, the better of the two. It is not a cigar to sit with and think about. It is a cigar to keep a bundle of for the yard, for guests, and for the days when you would rather not burn a good one.
Yard work, fishing, or anywhere the cigar might be dropped, abandoned or shared.
