What This Site Is

Most cigar information online falls into one of two piles. Either it is a retailer’s product copy, which exists to sell whatever is in stock, or it is enthusiast forum lore, which assumes you already know what a corona is and why you should care.

Cigar HQ tries to sit in between: enough detail to make a real decision, written in plain language, and organised around what you are actually choosing between rather than around what a shop wants to move this month.

Every cigar in the catalog gets a written take rather than a specification dump. Blend details record what the manufacturer publishes; where a component is not publicly disclosed, we leave it out rather than guess.

Prices are given as bands rather than exact figures. Cigar pricing moves constantly with state tobacco tax and retailer promotion, so a quoted dollar figure would be wrong somewhere the day it published.

The catalog is deliberately small. We would rather cover a limited number of widely available cigars properly than list everything and say nothing useful about any of it.

The intended model is affiliate commission: when a retailer approves us for their program, links to that retailer may earn Cigar HQ a commission on a sale, at no additional cost to you.

We currently have approved affiliate relationships with Cigars International, Thompson Cigar, Cigora, Famous Smoke Shop, Gotham Cigars, JR Cigars, Cigars.com, Best Cigar Prices. Links to those retailers are marked as paid where they appear. Links to any other retailer are ordinary untracked links and earn us nothing. The full picture is on the affiliate disclosure page.

No retailer or manufacturer pays for placement, and none of them see the catalog before it publishes.
